For International Students

Make the O’Neill School—and IU—your home away from home

Students come to Indiana University from around the world—and the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs is no exception. Each year, thousands of international students make IU Bloomington their home. You’ll be sure to find the support you need. Assistance is available for everything from academics to housing,  healthcare to the visa process. And, you’ll find clubs, cultural centers, and student organizations that will make you feel right at home.

IU is an international hub and you can see people from everywhere, every part of the world.

[Zolboo Dashmyagmar, Mongolia]

The international community at O'Neill has such a different blend of the cultures who are coming to study for the same goal of the lead for the greater good.

[Sungyeop Kim, South Korea]

O'Neill has a lot of diverse departments so you can do some kind of interdisciplinary studies. Looking at U.S News it said like our own school is the number one school in the United States.

[Michael Nambrio, Kenya]

The quality of education that I've received at O'Neill will prepare me for any career in public service or  non-profit or even in the private sector.

[Tomer Frankel, Israel]

You're gonna have some tools and different  perspectives to solve some issues, global issues.

[Nino Lazariia, Georgia]

The staff and professors at O'Neill are very welcoming, very empathetic, they are always willing to help with any questions that you could ever have.

[Michael Nambrio, Kenya]

I've been able to meet peers who understand my challenges and who are willing to listen to my story. O'Neill has provided me that community.

[Anjali Varma, India]

Everyone here wants you to succeed and they will help you however they can for you to realize those dreams.

[Shreya Legala, India]

Being an international student, it was very easy to find a home away from home and Bloomington was wonderful.

[Luis Enrique Becerra, Mexico]

This particular city is a very welcoming one. When you go out you see like all this diversity and  you see this embracing community.

[Shreya Legala, India]

Downtown is the best part of Bloomington because there's so much happening.

[Ximena Martinez Ruiz, Mexico]

You can go and enjoy international food in many kinds of different restaurants.

[Luis Enrique Becerra, Mexico]

What I loved about the city is  you can walk everywhere. But also, it has so many green spaces.  It embraces the environment.

[Nino Lazariia, Georgia]

There were a lot of different opportunities and events that were offered to international students.

[Ximena Martinez Ruiz, Mexico]

You can get in touch with a person that is either from the same continent or that speaks the same language as you, so you start getting familiar to IU even before coming here. Also we have access to tutorials of English language.

[Luis Enrique Becerra, Mexico]

The school makes an active effort to integrate. Every single one of my classes is a diverse one.

[Ximena Martinez Ruiz, Mexico]

I can apply to any kind of  jobs, to any kind of grants, to any kind of scholarships, to any kind of  international programs and I will have the same resources and opportunity as any other kind of student.

[Tomer Frankel, Israel]

I think the O'Neill School cares a lot about what we can do to make society better.

[Michael Nambrio, Kenya]

It's a place where you meet people who want to change the world and that's  what makes O'Neill special.
