The exchange program between Sciences Po and SPEA began in fall 2011. As a SPEA IUB student, you can spend a semester at the Reims campus with the opportunity to earn a certificate, typically in either International Affairs and Strategy or Business and Economics.

Sciences Po has a strong focus on the social sciences and humanities, but also offers courses in other fields such as business, law, and journalism. The vast majority of courses are offered in English. There is no requirement to speak French in order to attend Science Po. The program curriculum can be taken in English, French, or a combination of English and French courses. SPEA has evaluated over 50 English language courses taught at Sciences Po to determine course equivalencies in the SPEA curriculum.

Students generally attend class at Sciences Po for approximately 16 hours per week and take 30 ECT (European credits) per semester, which equates to 15 credit hours at IU. Since credit hours for courses at Sciences Po do not precisely equate to the typical three credit hour IU courses, an individualized course plan will be developed for each student.

Students will also take a four hour per week French language course while they study at Sciences Po. The course schedule for fall 2015 will be available on the Sciences Po website by early summer 2015. Course registration begins in mid-July. Course offerings vary by semester, but to get an idea of the types of courses offered at Sciences Po, see the course list available from Jeff McEvilly, international program specialist at SPEA.

This program is open to SPEA undergraduate students at IU Bloomington. To apply and participate in the exchange, you must have completed your sophomore year of study and be in good academic standing.
