SPEA professor Kosali Simon and her co-authors have been awarded the prestigious Musgrave Prize for their paper, “A ‘Second Opinion’ on the Economic Health of the American Middle Class.”
Simon and co-authors Richard Burkhauser (Cornell University) and Jeff Larrimore (Joint Committee on Taxation, U.S. Congress) are the recipients of the prize for the best article published in the National Tax Journal. The winner is selected by the journal’s Editorial Advisory Board.
In the letter announcing the selection, the Board said the article exemplified the attributes of Musgrave’s research with its “strong analytical underpinnings, rigorous argument buttressed by solid empirical evidence, respect for the importance of historical and institutional factors, and relevance for public policy.”
Simon will be honored with a plaque at the National Tax Association’s annual conference in Providence, Rhode Island and the award will be noted on the National Tax Journal website.
