Jeffrey Tunis is a retired Senior Foreign Service officer who was commissioned by the U.S. Department of State in 1983 and appointed to the Senior Foreign Service in 2008. As a consular officer, he served in the Philippines, Haiti, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Korea, and Canada, before his last assignment as Consul General at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia. Tunis is also a retired Naval Reserve officer with over 25 years of service, and worked in the Department of the Treasury on foreign assets control prior to joining the U.S. Department of State. Following his retirement from the State Department in 2011, Tunis worked for a large Indonesian agribusiness firm as director of foreign affairs in Jakarta.
Tunis received a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and an MPA in comparative and international affairs from Indiana University.
