Biography

The Honorable Denise K. LaRue was appointed as a federal magistrate judge in 2011. Judge LaRue began her career as staff attorney at the Indiana Civil Rights Commission, where she represented clients in all aspects of employment matters involving discrimination and retaliation claims under Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. She has also handled claims involving constitutional due process, free speech, and political association violations, as well as federal labor and wage and hour issues.

Prior to this appointment, she was a partner at Haskin and LaRue, a firm specializing in employment law. Judge LaRue is a life member of the Marion County Bar Association; an Indianapolis Bar Foundation Distinguished Fellow, and a Master with the Indianapolis American Inn of Court, currently serving as president.

Judge LaRue received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and a JD from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
