John Kenward is a Senior Bond Analyst with the rank of director in the Chicago office of Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services. Before joining the credit rating firm’s Chicago office in 1994, Kenward worked as an analyst at the S&P main office in New York from 1987 to 1994.
In his current position, Kenward serves as the primary analyst for local government issues throughout the Midwest including Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin municipalities, special districts, and school districts. He also has worked as the primary S&P analyst for the states of Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. His areas of expertise include state and local government general obligations, water and sewer revenue bonds, tax increment bonds, sales tax revenue bonds, short-term debt, and primary market derivatives.
Kenward earned a BA in Government and International Studies from the University of Notre Dame, an MPA in Public Finance and Public Information Systems from Indiana University, and a JD from the University of Denver’s College of Law.
