Cynthia Ayers was elected as Superior Court Judge in January 1991 and is currently serving her fourth term. She has served as a Marion County deputy prosecutor, an attorney in private practice, an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech College, a litigator before the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor, and as a commissioner for the Marion Circuit Court.
In 1988, Ayers was appointed master commissioner of Marion Superior Title IV-D Court, hearing paternity and child support enforcement cases, and remained a judge in that court until her election as Superior Court judge. From 2008 to 2011, Ayers was an adjunct professor at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
Ayers received a bachelor’s degree in sociology and an MPA from Indiana University – Purdue University, Indianapolis. She also holds a JD from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis.
