Susan Bayh


Susan Bayh has served as the Commissioner of the International Joint Commission of the Water Treaty Act between the United States and Canada, overseeing compliance with environmental and water treaties for the U.S.-Canadian border. Prior to that appointment, she was an attorney in the Pharmaceutical Division of Eli Lilly and Company, where she handled federal regulatory issues for marketing and medical affairs. She has also served as a litigation attorney in the firms of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Barnes & Thornburg, where she specialized in antitrust and corporate law. She is licensed to practice law in DC and Indiana.

From 1994 until 2004, Bayh was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the College of Business Administration of Butler University, where she continues to serve as a member of the university’s Board of Trustees. She is also a Director of Dendreon Corporation, a biotechnology company; Emmis Operating Co., a broadcasting and publishing company; and Golden State Foods, one of the country’s largest diversified food suppliers.

Her previous service includes the boards of pharmaceutical companies Esperion Therapeutics, Inc., Novavax, Inc., Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc., MDRNA (formerly Nastech), and Dyax Corp. She was also a director of Wellpoint, Inc. (formerly Anthem Inc.) from 2001 until 2013.

Bayh earned a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and a JD from the University of Southern California Law Center.
