Edward “Ed” B. Montgomery is dean of the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute. Previously, he served on President Obama’s Auto Task Force and as executive director of the White House Council for Auto Communities and Workers. Under President Clinton he served as deputy secretary and chief operating officer at the U.S. Department of Labor after holding appointments as assistant secretary for policy and as chief economist for the Department of Labor.
Montgomery has had a rich career in higher education. He has held faculty positions at the University of Maryland, Michigan State University, and Carnegie Mellon University, and visiting positions at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and The Urban Institute. He also served as the dean of the University of Maryland’s College of Behavioral and Social Sciences.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in economics with honors from Pennsylvania State University, as well as an A.M. and doctorate in economics from Harvard University.
